Recently, Michael here at Grin & Bear worked on a project for a family scattered across the globe; the US, Australia and New Zealand. A lady’s beloved father-in-law had recently passed away, and she was looking for a way to ensure his 8 grandchildren would cherish his memory forever. The brief was to create 8 bears for the grandchildren using the fabric of their grandpa’s pyjamas and shirts, which would be used to design a unique patchwork pattern for each teddy bear.
Michael worked hard to create these keepsake patchwork teddy bears, and when he was planning which garment to use on each, he even found sweets in the pockets of some of the shirts. When speaking to the client, she confirmed that her father-in-law used to always keep sweet treats on him, ready to give to the grandchildren when they came to visit. After hearing her anecdote about this loved man, it just made the project even more special and memorable for Michael, as this grandfather really did touch the hearts of his entire family, despite them being far away from each other.
The client was overjoyed with the finishes of the bears, delighted with their quality and classic charm with a modern design. All of the 8 bears were dressed in a dressing gown, the same design worn by their grandfather, topped off with a neck bow and wrapped in tissue paper in a sturdy box. Any child losing a grandparent will long to feel close to them again, so these memory bears truly do make the perfect gift, and will be cherished for years to come, passed down through generations.
