Here at Grin & Bear, we are not just another teddy bear company, we provide our customers with a completely unique experience. Each of our luxury teddy bears is made from exquisite materials and undergoes an extensive design process, so we can ensure each furry friend is of the highest standard. We work hard to ensure we have something available for every taste, so if you would like to learn more about how we design these wonderful teddy bears, feel free to keep on reading.
The first sketch
Before we start to create any new teddy bear, everything starts with an idea or conversation. The inspiration could come from anywhere and at this stage anything is possible. We then convert that idea into a first sketch. This is completed after the initial conversations about the design have already taken place, where a pen puts the ideas and possibilities to paper to give a visual of what the bear could possibly look like. This is where we can let our imagination run wild, and really start to visualise the design before we start creating anything physical.
As each bear is meticulously designed and lovingly homemade, we take lots of factors into account when drawing this sketch. We have to be realistic with this, as we try to stay as true to the sketch as possible when physically creating the bear - which is why alterations from the sketch are only ever to maintain the quality of the bear and is very rare. Once the sketch is completed, we send this across to the client for approval, so we can move onto the next stage of design and production.
Selection of materials
With countless colours, textures and finishes to choose from, this is often one of the most enjoyable parts of the entire teddy bear creation process. It is such fun being able to choose the right materials to bring this soon-to-be-companion to life while working from our previous sketch design. Everything really does revolve around the choice of fabric, as this is what is going to give the teddy bear its personality and unique characteristics.
Although this is the most fun part of the creation, it can be very time consuming as we have to get this step exactly right - since we always use quite delicate and luxurious fabrics which can be expensive. Some of the materials we use include cashmere, silk, mohair and the finest cottons, which we have to ensure complement each other and would work in the final finish of the bear. Our team want to design a teddy that the recipient will truly fall in love with, so we take our time and guarantee that their vision is brought to life in the best possible way.
The final creation of the bear
This is where all our hard work comes together, as once the sketch has been approved and the materials are chosen we can start bringing this teddy bear to life in our artisan factory. Using traditional techniques, every bear is made with love, each with the same care and dedication as the last. No matter what the design of the bear may be, here at Grin & Bear, we pride ourselves on the fact that our meticulous approach is the same time and time again.
